Tidbits of Home....

So I felt like blogging this morning... :) It promises to be a good day! Not because I'm blogging, but because I get to spend all day with friends! And I have more friends coming next weekend and some of my family coming the following weekend!!! Yay! :)
The plans for today are walking thru Port Royal's weekly Flea Market with Susan K. snapping photos for a project assignment required to complete my second-to-last Unit study in school....another reason to smile today....I am almost thru with college!! About time!! ;) Then tonight we are invited to Micah and Rachael D. for the evening...I get to try my hand at making rubarb bars for our dessert...the meringue has me a bit nervous....*whispers* I have a tendency to burn anything I bake. :/ but perhaps if I sit in front of the stove and observe the baking process it will emerge in perfection! though I have heard the saying, "A watched pot never boils"....wonder if that goes for pans as well. *ponders thoughtfully* hey, it's worth a try! at least it wouldn't be burnt!! *grin*
Kevin's brother Calvin and his family are here from Montana this next week so there will be lots of back and forth with family and friends...this is the first time they have been back home since our wedding last October...We would like to host the whole gang here some evening if there is an open time slot...
The last week has been hot, muggy and stormy....it has rained at least 3-4 times and some were pretty bad thunderstorms...my garden and flowers are growing like weeds! ;) I picked peas last night and have to blanch and freeze them today sometime...

Remember I promised ya'll photos of our couch?
                              Tada! :)

it's definitely not perfect as you can see, which I guess it isn't quite done yet, but it sure changed the looks of the room

Oh, this?? *grin* They were describing eating rice from little bowls with chopsticks in China.... ;) this was the evening we had opened our wedding presents...did I ever say how blessed we were!! Seriously! We received sooo many things! my kitchen was completely and over-abundantly stocked! :) We were totally overwhelmed by what all people gave! We got started off on the right AND left foot... :)

Meet Teddy...at least I think that's what I had named him....He is a great attraction for the children that visit us.... :)

My lovely little magazine rack I found among the trash in the basement....I believe it is actually a basket for inside a chest freezer but hey, I think it looks better and is more useful this way.... :)

This is a treasure I absolutely love! Thanks to my Dad! ;) This stand sat (*laughs* okay that cracks me up...re-read the previous sentence) at First Choice Exteriors for however many yrs holding their soaps and rags and this spring they cleaned house dooming it to a junk yard....Dad just happened to mention something about it one weekend when we were home and I about went thru the ceiling hearing that it was being trashed! Claiming it immediately, he so nicely brought it home for me....at that point it was a rusty, ugly brown-orange shade and 2 wheels kept falling off, which they still do but.... ;) *chuckle* I sent a photo of the now gorgeous stand to him yesterday and his reply made me laugh..."O my land! it even looks nice." :)

My lil horse head bottles...                           It's always 10 o'clock here.... :)

 My chalkboard fun....

I needed a yellow kitchen to keep me cheery while cooking... ;) it still isn't my favorite thing to do but is becoming easier...guess I'd better learn to like it since it's my paying job and wifely-motherly task forever and ever....*eyes widen* that's a looong time to cook.... ;)
have a great weekend!! Shana
