Luxurious Soaks, Labels & Living Room Decor

Last week I finally got to one of the projects on my list....

Epsom Bath Salts & Moisturizing Bath Melts

The bath salts turned out really well though the bath melts were a bit of a flop. The cocoa butter was so hard it wouldn't blend well and is still a bit chunky. I added coconut oil as well hoping that would help so this is extremely rich in moisture. :) It does dissolve in water, all's well that ends well I suppose...except that I have waaaay too much!! well stocked, you could say. While mixing, the overwhelming smell of cocoa gave me chochlate cravings that I still haven't satisfied! :)

doesn't it look like some vanilla bean dessert?

here are a few of the recipes/blogs I went off of though mine are tweaked to fit myself and the ingredients I had on hand:

Since you have such luscious salts for a soak, they really do deserve a pretty label as well. I had promised to blog about these easy DIY labels a month or so back so I shall do that now. :) I used this technique for my kitchen dry good canisters first but they work for anything really....

here are the links I used: the first link is where I got my pdf printables and the second is the directions of how-to.

It really looks pretty on anything!

step 1: print out whatever you want to use for your label on a laser printer.
step 2: cut out around your label in a square-no need to be precise.
step 3: take a piece of packing tape and cover the right side of your label.

step 4: soak the label in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes then remove it and rub between finger tips-you'll immediately notice the paper peel right off the tape. repeat the soaking process as many times as needed till you feel all paper is gone.
step 5: let the labels air dry and the tape will regain it's stickiness. Apply. Fini. :)

And now! for a continuation of the home tour....
tada! our Living Room. I have long debated whether to call it a "living room" or "family room"....what do you call it? I have this feeling that "living room" is from my amish heritage but maybe not.... :)

I wanted simple pillows that were cute and cuddly but when the ones I like are a bit more than I care to spend, we visit pinterest once again! :) These I made with some duck cloth and sharpies....Such fun! and it didn't even take long! which is definitely a bonus! :)

I did finally tackle my china hutch last week as well. Since my hubby bought me a brand-spankin new paint sprayer for my birthday these large paint projects have become a breeze! The hutch still needs the glass put back in the door but now my wedding dishes are nicely displayed and the dining room has a more elegant appeal. :)

and of course no post can be complete without a photo of honey-child.... :)
